a hint to anybody wishing to make a front page post, putting a title on it like this is a great way to get people to read what you're talking about. I have so far made 2 such posts previous to this and these are the only ones that anybody cares about. Try it yourself, it's really great!! You also get great attention from the mods. Don't post stupid updates about your current progress with your animations, nobody cares about that.

That being said, I hate egoraptor, and all your other favorite animators.

we've been getting some killer floods in Iowa, all around the state. They've caused massive damage, homelessness, etc. the usual natural disaster stuff. I made a video with some flood footage

it's pretty shit and i'm getting pretty sick of it but the flood is supposed to peak tonight!

Wow, so newgrounds got big enough that they actually decided to do their own awards ceremony, with trophies and all. This is a pretty big thing, even if it's just going out from a website. It's only once a year, with REAL gold plated trophies you can win. You'd think that only the top quality submissions, all artistically, stylistically, well scripted, beautiful graphics, great originality, submissions would get in. Nah. This is newgrounds, are you kidding me?? Even at a professional attempt at giving back to the community, newgrounds can't take animation seriously. The website built around uploading your original content does not promote originality at all. Disgusting.

The sick part about what i just said, is that it is over the top all too true. Ghostmas is bad enough, but a madness animation?? And they didn't just take it that far, there are also 2 madness spinoffs in the mix, too!! An animation with little original graphics besides stick figures, a movie that's a spinoff of a commercial with little animation at all, a movie where the characters have no style and are blatantly ripped off of southpark, hell dude, almost ALL of the nominees are a ripoff. If newgrounds really wanted to have quality, filmfest, award-winning animations in its selection process the only movies that are there now that i could see being there in a real life animation awards situation are Waterlollies and The Stranger Forest. Sometimes good, deserving animations are featured on the front page, and sometimes they even win money. But situations like this just ruin the whole point of trying to promote decent flash.

Now I'm not trying to be a total asshole about everything, I'm suggesting drastic improvement could be taken place if efforts were made. Oh, and I expect several comments entailing 'you're just mad because none of your movies are up there!' or 'if you hate newgrounds so much why don't you leave!' Yeah, well feel free to bitch and moan all you want to. None of that is going to change my opinion.

EDIT: And yes I did read the whole nominees page, several times before posting this.

EDIT 2: Another thing I should have added when posting this, there's a fine line on what deserves to be popular, and what deserves to win an award. What's popular isn't always best.

So i just got an email confirming my piece has been accepted to be screened in Interlochen's 'Future of Cinema' Film festival!! this is a huge deal, seeing as it's the biggest thing that's ever happened to my animations, and also there will be professionals, peers, critics etc. there to view my work! Not only that, but it's pretty prestigious too i think. Oh yeah and the piece that's in it is Fishes. Check out the website for more details on the fest

Yeah so I'm busting my ass working on an animation sequence for my movie i'm making, it's taking forever. I took a day off today and made a little interactive quirky thing called 'The Jungle Of Rot'. I'll probably have something real finished next month.

So I'll still be submitting but I do have other shit I'm doing like, in the real world and stuff trying to get my shit out there so I'll be posting less, like, not 15 flashes per year

what that means is I won't be submitting here anymore.

It's not final but i'm considering it.

The reasons for this are mainly because I feel my animations simply don't appeal to the NG audience. This clearly isn't where I should be posting my stuff for several reasons:

1. Does not contain sticks

2. Does not contain sprites

3. Is not humorous

4. Is not a video game parody

4.5. Does not involve masterchief

5. The plot in my animations are not always simple

6. I am highly considering pursuing a curreer in film

7. Is not Hentai

Basically what I'm saying is that the NG audience just isn't my crowd. The views this website generates for user based content is great, however the audience has been declining in intelligence and taste for a very long time now.

This isn't final; but hey, look on the bright side. If I leave, that'll be one less person in the way for artists like Alvin-Earthworm to dominate the internet!
